Gigantic's March 2017 State Of The Game Talks About Easing The Learning Curve

In a lengthy new post, Gigantic Community Manager Evan Teicheira discusses the state of Gigantic as of this month, March 2017. The game has been in Open Beta for around three and a half months and the team has decided that it is time to talk to the community about how the game is faring so far.

According to the post, "one of the most important revelations" that the team has had in that time is that "Gigantic is complicated." The team wants to make it easier for new players to "get over the steep learning curve of the game." While Gigantic shares common DNA with other MOBAs, it is significantly different. To help ease the learning curve a bit, Motiga will be introducing Bot Matches, refining various mechanics to make them more clear, and continuing to improve the balance of various heroes. It seems that Tripp may need special attention in some regard, but no further details were given.

Going forward, the team is also working on new heroes and maps. Three new heroes were vaguely teased: "Shadow," for players that love Tripp; "Juice," for players that hate Tripp; and "Stoneskin," for players who "want to knock both heroes around." One new map will be set in a forest and feature "three distinct lanes—similar to a more traditional MOBA."

That being said, the six-week content update cycle is being temporarily postponed, as the team has decided to "double-down on polishing and improving the game."

Motiga also confirmed several features that "should arrive around the time the game launches." The game will be returning to Windows 7 and 8 via the Arc platform "and, perhaps, other platforms..." which may imply a Steam release. Proper voice and text chat will be introduced "in one form or another." Achievements will also be introduced at some point for those who want more goals to work towards as they improve their skills.

As for the launch date, it is stated that it is "a date [they will] talk about more in the next month or so." It seems that launch may be drawing ever nearer.
