The 4v4 racing MOBA Heavy Metal Machines launched two weeks ago, but its first major content update went live today with a new character named "Killer J." Whether intentional or not, the new character may remind you of Twisted Metal's Sweet Tooth, as he is also a killer clown that drives a car with guns attached to it.

Killer J is an Interceptor character whose abilities include Friendly Rockets, Round-a-Blast, The Big Joke, and A Compliment. Friendly Rockets and Round-a-Blast are not described in the press release, but The Big Joke sends out "a huge exploding barrel that does an area-of-effect attack that leaves enemies spinning out of control," whereas A Compliment will reflect 50% of "all damage" that Killer J takes back at those that damaged him for a limited time. You can find more information about Killer J here.

The update also introduces the in-game store and "the acceptance of hard currency." This allows players to purchase "DLC characters" that aren't in rotation, such as Killer J, who won't enter the free rotation until February 28th. EXP and Fame boosters can also be purchased.

A Founder's Pack has been made available. It is similar to Gigantic's Founder's Pack, in that players will be guaranteed all Heavy Metal Machines pilots, Gold Skins, and "more goodies at launch." There are three tiers of Founder's Pack: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

You can find the full set of patch notes for the latest update here. More information about Heavy Metal Machines can be found on the Steam store page.
