Korean developed MMORPG Astellia is shutting down on October 29, 2021. Officially released in the West as a buy-to-play game in September 2019, the game failed to find a footing during its two year run.

A free to play version titled Astellia Royale released on Steam earlier this year already seems to be abandoned. There is no method to download the game and existing players on the discussion board are complaining of their inability to connect to servers.

Astellia is one of a number of ill fated MMORPG projects that have attempted to launch into a competitive gaming market with outdated foundations. Astellia was built on the Unreal 3 engine, first introduced 15 years ago. The original Bless suffered a similar fate. Elyon, previously known as Ascent: Infinite Realm, is looking to tempt fate by launching yet another Unreal 3 MMORPG later this year.
