As promised earlier this week, Cryptic Studios has removed all microtransactions in Magic: Legends as the studio prepares for the game’s premature shutdown in October. As of the latest patch, all cash shop items can now be bought using Aether, the game’s free in-game currency. The ability to buy battle pass levels has also been removed and the cost to rename characters has been significantly reduced.

Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios announced that they will no longer be releasing the game and that the servers will be shutting down permanently on October 31. The unfortunate news comes just a few months after the Magic: The Gathering-inspired ARPG soft-launched into open beta on March 23.

The brief patch notes can be found on the Magic: Legends official site.
