Niantic’s MARVEL World Of Heroes Will Be Shutting Down Tomorrow

Late last month, Pokemon Go developer Niantic revealed that the company was facing financial challenges and is restructuring in an effort to reduce costs in various areas. In line with the restructuring, the company downsized its workforce by 8%, closed its Los Angeles studio, and scrapped several in-development projects.

Back then, it looked like Marvel World of Heroes escaped the headsman’s axe since it wasn’t included in the announcement. Alas, it’s ongoing beta test is about to be nipped in the bud as Niantic announces that it will be shutting down the superhero MMOARPG tomorrow.

“As all adventures have their end, our MARVEL World of Heroes adventure is set to conclude on July 14th, 2023, at 11am PST,” the studio announced. “From this point, the game will no longer be accessible and development will come to a close. We want to take this moment to sincerely thank all of you who joined us in this adventure. Your feedback, enthusiasm, and camaraderie have been invaluable. Thank you for being our heroes!”

Affected players will have until July 31st to transfer any remaining premium currency over to Pokémon GO, which as far as we know, has remained unaffected by the restructuring. Details can be found on the Marvel World of Heroes official site.
