Meadow Is "A Forum In Games' Clothing"

With rather ironic timing considering this week's Weekly Raid, Meadow, which is described by developer Might and Delight as "a forum in games' clothing," launched earlier today. The latest in the Shelter series, Meadow lets players become one of a variety of air, land, and water animals and set out to explore the world. Whereas other games allow conventional methods of communication, players in Meadow interact exclusively through "specially created emotes, symbols, and sounds." If you've ever played Tale of Tales' Endless Forest, this appears to be somewhat reminiscent of it, albeit I do not know if Might and Delight plan to hold the neat events that Tale of Tales did with their MMOs.

It's a bit unclear exactly how the game works, but the Steam store page promises that "the more time spent embracing the gameplay features in the world, the more you receive." What is clear is that you can track other players and that there are various landmarks around the world, which may or may not be interactive.

Meadow is available now on Steam for a mere $2.99. Owning other products in the Shelter series will unlock additional playable animals; owning any game in the series will unlock that game's animal, whereas owning all games in the series will unlock the bear cub from Paws and owning all games in the series and their DLC will unlock a bird.
