Mobile Strategy Game Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire Earns More Than Every Square Enix MMO Combined

The mobile strategy game Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire earned a whopping $380 million so far since its release 13 months ago, significantly out earning every single Square Enix MMO combined. Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XI, and Dragon Quest X earn about $280 million a year combined according to Square Enix's publicly disclosed earnings reports. A New Empire though isn't run by Square Enix though. It's operated by Machine Zone, the company best known for Game of War and Mobile Strike. In fact, Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire is the exact same game as Game of War and Mobile Strike, except with a Final Fantasy 15 skin.

According to mobile game analytics firm Sensor Tower, Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire has more than 45 million players worldwide. U.S. players account for the bulk of revenues, but on a per-install basis Japanese players out spend U.S. players 6 to 1 with U.S. users spending $10 on average per install and Japanese at $60.
