Monster Hunter Rise Has Sold 5 Million Copies In Its First Week

Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise has once again taken the world by storm with the recent launch of Monster Hunter Rise on the Nintendo Switch. The new Monster Hunter title launched on March 26 and has sold 5 million copies in its first week alone, putting it in the top ten of Capcom’s Platinum Sellers List which also include Monster Hunter World, the MHW Iceborne expansion, Resident Evil 2, and several Street Fighter titles.

“[Monster Hunter Rise] was developed with Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE in order to provide a new, accessible Monster Hunter experience that can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere and with anyone. In addition to new monsters and locales, the game provides a completely fresh take on the hunting experience through a host of new, exhilarating hunting actions made possible with the Wirebug. With this, players can traverse terrain at high speed, or even bind monsters and control them. Further adding to the excitement is the debut of new "canyne" hunting partners called Palamutes.”

The Monster Hunter franchise itself has seen over 66 million copies sold, excluding Monster Hunter Rise, and will probably be selling even more when Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin arrives this July. According to the press release, the upcoming game will feature elements that will link with Monster Hunter Rise.
