Upcoming Monster Hunter World ‘Iceborn’ Expansion Heads To PS4 Beta On Friday

monster hunter world iceborn velkhanaIt’s time for PlayStation 4 players to grab their thermal gear and hot drinks as the massive Monster Hunter World: Iceborn expansion heads to PS4 Beta. The upcoming expansion features the frigid Hoarfrost Reach locale, new monsters including the two-horned Banbaro, the elder dragon Velkhana, and the infamous flying wyvern - Tigrex.

“The beta will let players test out all 14 weapon types in any of the three quests and the training area. The weapons include new features plus there are new Slinger tool options such as the Clutch Claw grapple mechanic. Upon completing each quest for the first time, hunters can earn a total of three item packs containing helpful consumable items that will be available to use in the full version of the Iceborne expansion when it releases. With more monsters and game info to be revealed, this is just the tip of the Iceborne!”

The first beta test will run from Friday, June 21st at 3am PDT until Monday, June 24th at 3am PDT and will be open exclusively to PlayStation Plus users. Don’t worry if you don’t have a PlayStation Plus subscription. Capcom will be running a second beta test which will be open to all PS4 users. The second beta test will kick off on Friday, June 28th at 3am and will run until Monday, July 1st at 3am PDT. The base game will not be required to participate in the beta test. Pre-downloads will be available a few days before the beta period begins.

The Iceborn expansion is scheduled to launch on September 6, 2019 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One while PC users will have to wait until Winter to dive in to the icy new expansion. The base game is required to access the expansion at launch. Players will also need to complete the main story quests until Hunter Rank 16 before they can proceed to the Iceborn quests and storyline.
