Monster Hunter World And The Witcher 3 Crossover Now Live, Iceborn Release Date Revealed

Geralt of Rivia has made his way to the New World in the Monster Hunter World and The Witcher 3 crossover event. The event comes with a new single-player quest, a new monster, new gear to craft. The crossover quest lets players control Geralt himself as he uses his Witcher senses, Igni flames, and iconic silver sword to hunt down and defeat the forest-dwelling Leshen.

The quest also includes side objectives that can lead to multiple endings. Complete the quest and you’ll be rewarded with materials that you can use to craft your very own Geralt armor and silver sword. According to Rock Paper Shotgun, the quest will be a permanent addition to the game so you’ll definitely be seeing Geralt hanging around. If you’re looking for a tougher challenge, the second part of the crossover event, which comes out later in the month, will give you just that.

From May 17th to May 30th, a tougher multiplayer version of the Leshen hunt will be available to Rank 50 hunters. Hunters who successfully complete the quest will be rewarded with Ciri’s armor and dual swords as well as resources to craft alternate versions of both Geralt’s and Ciri’s armor.

In other Monster Hunter World news, the game’s first expansion “Iceborne” will be launching on consoles on September 6th. The expansion will be set in Hoarfrost Reach, a harsh, cold, snow-covered glacial zone so don’t forget to stock up on Hot Drinks. Monsters inhabiting the area include the Banbaro, the snow-plowing Beotodus, and a returning fan-favorite from previous Monster Hunter games: The Nargacuga. There’s also a new Elder Dragon named Velkhana, and the new Clutch Claw which will let hunters grapple onto monsters and get up close and personal.

Check out the trailers for both events right after the jump. You can also head over to the official PlayStation Blog site for more info.
