One week after Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker’s launch and login queues have actually become longer. The situation is only made worse by various network errors that have been popping up since the expansion’s early access launch. And as if on cue, Executive Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida is back with another apology and a report on what Square Enix has been doing to address the issues.

“We apologize for the huge inconvenience caused to players by the extremely high levels of congestion in each World since Early Access and the official launch of Endwalker. [. . .] We continue to see large numbers of players accessing the game over the weekend, although the peak numbers are slightly lower than last weekend and players logging in are gradually dispersing into the other time slots.”

Meanwhile, the incidences of Error 2002, which is apparently caused by the reaching the maximum number of queued players, have been reduced by increasing the queue cap. The error is also caused by network instability on the player’s side especially when they’ve been waiting a long time in the queue. PC players are advised to use a hard-wired connection while PlayStation players are asked to check their power-saving settings.

Error 4004 which occurs when players timeout when in queue or just before logging in has been fixed while the team continues to work on Error 3001 which has caused outages in several Worlds and zones.

Unfortunately, less errors and higher queue caps have resulted in significantly longer queue times, which Square Enix is continually trying to stabilize. The global semiconductor shortage, however, makes the job more challenging for the devs.

“Please rest assured that our Development/Operations teams will put everything into easing congestion and ensuring stable operations,” said Yoshida. “Due to the shortage of semiconductors generated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we unfortunately cannot expect to add new Worlds immediately, but we will continue to take the best measures we can.”
