NCSoft Revenues Continue To Drop For The Third Consecutive Quarter This Year

NCSoft’s revenues are still in a downward trend for three consecutive quarters. According to the South Korean publisher’s latest financial report, revenues are down 4% quarter-over-quarter for Q3 2023 and 30% year-over-year and its not because its PC MMORPG’s aren’t pulling their weight.

The revenue drop is largely attributed to the poor performance of its mobile titles. Lineage W, in particular, saw a 50% revenue drop from Q3 2022 while Lineage 2M saw a 35% drop compared to the same period. PC MMORPG’s, on the other hand, including Aion, Lineage 1, and Blade and Soul saw a slight increase in revenue this past quarter.

Guild Wars 2 also saw a slight boost to its revenues following the launch of its Secrets of the Obscure expansion last August. We can probably expect that trend to continue through to the final quarter of the year as the expansion continues to draw in players over the upcoming holidays.

NCSoft will likely also see a big revenue boost in December when Throne and Liberty officially launches in South Korea with the western version slated to follow suit sometime in 2024.
