NCSoft Reports Q3 2016 Earnings, WildStar Sales Crumble 50% Quarter over Quarter

NCSoft reported earnings last week and while quarter over quarter sales fell for the company, year over year sales and profits are both up 11% and 29% respectively. All major NCSoft franchises held up pretty steadily except for WildStar which saw sales crumble over 50% quarter over quarter. Lineage and Blade and Soul revenues are down slightly quarter over quarter, but up materially from last year's numbers. Given the frightening pace of WildStar's deterioration, it wouldn't be surprising to see the game shut down.

2017 should be a big year for NCSoft as Lineage Eternal will likely make its commercial launch sometime next year. Guild Wars 2 has been losing momentum as well, but Lineage, Lineage 2, and Blade and Soul, remain strong.

NCSoft stock is down from a peak of 305,000 KRW per share reached on October 6, 2016 down to 247,000 KRW per share as of November 14, 2016.
