Netmarbles Games Raises $2.3 Billion in IPO, Company Worth Over $11 Billion

Netmarble Games, the studio best known for Marvel: Future Fight, Lineage 2: Revolution, and Seven Knights, raised $2.3 billion in its initial public offering today valuing the company at a bit over $11 billion, making it the largest gaming company in South Korea, and one of the largest in the world. For the sake of context, Nexon and NCSoft are worth about $6.8 billion a piece. Activision Blizzard, probably the best known gaming company in the West is worth ~$37.5B. Netmarble employs a bit over 3,000 people and publishers games in over 120 countries worldwide.

Netmarble rose to prominence thanks to the success of their mobile games. Lineage 2: Revolution alone earned a whopping $176 million in revenues in its first month of operation. With the release of the game worldwide, sales are expected to increase in 2017. Despite South Korea being the company's largest individual market, the company gets 51% of sales internationally.
