After several teasers in which we had no idea what it was called, Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment have unveiled that Neverwinter's next expansion is called "The Cloaked Ascendancy" and it will be launching on PC on February 21st.

The story of The Cloaked Ascendancy is as follows.

The Spellplague continues to cast a shadow over Neverwinter, as four mages torn from the Cloak Tower by a spellstorm return to usurp the throne.

[...]

The Cloaked Ascendancy begins following the harrowing events of Storm King’s Thunder in the northern reaches of Faerûn, as adventurers return to the city to honor a fallen hero. However, Gyrion the Ascendant and other former residents of the Cloak Tower, ravaged and reformed by the Far Realm, appear ready to wield their awesome magical powers against Neverwinter as the Cloaked Ascendancy.

The expansion will introduce a new adventure zone known as "The River District," a new campaign that follows the story above, a redesigned "high-end dungeon" called "Spellplague Caverns," a new skirmish that features "innovative gameplay," and the return of "the original Spellplague Caverns," which will be available as a leveling dungeon.

While the update will be launching on PC on February 21st, consoles will not be getting the update until "later this year."
