With MMO players naturally looking forward to new content, one of the problems that developers now face is how to get players to replay old content. To address this in Neverwinter, Cryptic Studios added the Adventures system which allowed players to experience older content in a more streamlined format with various rewards waiting at the end.

One of the more popular content from back in the day is 2013’s Tyranny of Dragons campaign which has now been updated as an Epic Adventure and polished to improve the overall experience.

“The Well of Dragons zone is one of our favorites and as such, it has seen quite a few updates over the years. Continuing with the update to this content includes converting over the older Tyranny of Dragons campaign into the Epic Adventure format. We didn’t stop there though. We fixed quite a few quest bugs, cleaned up the population, and added some subtle ambient jobs for the vile Cult of the Dragon cultists in the region.”

The team has also converted the Heroic Encounters in the campaign to a Minor Rank to enable groups of 2-3 players to complete them. This includes the Heralds of Tiamat encounter which has young dragons arriving every 10 to 20 minutes to challenge players.

Rewards have also been updated for the campaign which now includes Potions of Dragon Slaying and Scrolls of Protection. Chromatic Element Shards, which can be obtained throughout Neverwinter, also replaces the original Dragon Hoard Coins that can no longer be looted from the Well of Dragons content. Artifacts that were previously obtainable from the Tyranny of Dragons Campaign and the Harper Legion Merchant can now be earned by participating in queued content and other activities.

Players who want to replay the Tyranny of Dragons Campaign in its new format can speak with Harper Boward in the Hall of Justice: West Courtyard in Protector’s Enclave. Note that the new Epic Adventure requires a character to be at least level 20 with a minimum item level of 35,000.
