New EverQuest Aradune Progression Server Experiences Massive Queues On Launch Day

everquest 18th anniversary bannerLast week saw the launch of a number of high-profile MMO’s which, unsurprisingly, experienced major issues as soon as the gates were opened. Not to be outdone, EverQuest also launched two new progression servers over the weekend which was immediately hit with hour-long queues especially on the new Aradune server.

Daybreak Games says that they’re working on ways to help control the queues and advise players to play during off-peak hours to avoid excessive queues. “We know lots of you are excited to play on Aradune, and wanted to provide an update,” said the studio in a forum post last Saturday. “We’ve been monitoring queue times for the server closely and at this time we’re at the maximum capacity it can safely handle. We have noticed, If you have a flexible play time, there have been little to no queues between 12 AM and 7 AM PDT. We have made changes to the AFK timer to improve queue flow and are continuing to look at further improvements to reduce queue times during peak hours.”

The big question is whether Daybreak will be adding new servers to control the massive influx of players, or if they’ll just wait it out and implement band-aid fixes until the server population eventually becomes more stable.
