Last Friday, EverQuest and EverQuest 2 Executive Producer and recently-appointed head of Darkpaw Games Holly “Windstalker” Longdale surprised the gaming community with a Producer’s Letter announcing her departure from Daybreak Games, the new spin-off studio, and the EverQuest franchise. Longdale left the studio and the franchise in the hands of her second-in-command, Technical Director Jennifer Chan.

Chan has just published her first-ever Letter to the Community, reassuring fans that it’s still full steam ahead for the EverQuest games in spite of the sudden change in leadership. “I have to say, it is with great honor and gratitude to have been appointed the next steward of EverQuest and EverQuest II,” she writes. “I follow a line of legends before me, and I intend to lead by example and carry on the torch to the best of my ability.”

“I want to reassure you that the change of guard does not mean change of plans in EverQuest II. We are moving full steam ahead on our road map for the year with lots of new and additional fun content in store.

EverQuest is about to celebrate its 21st birthday and it’s an honor to be blessed by the love and dedication that you all have for the franchise, and with EverQuest’s 21st , that means Chronoportal is coming, and we’ll have more info on that in the next few days.”

Chan also talked about future plans for the game which includes major changes to Overseer in April, class balance changes, performance and stability improvements, and expansion 17. There’s also a fan gathering planned for this summer. Whether the gathering will actually push through is another matter, as the threat of the COVID-19 coronavirus forces both big and small gaming companies to cancel their events.

You’ll find the full letter on the EverQuest 2 official site.
