Space: the final frontier, and apparently a very popular setting for sandbox MMORPGs as a new one hits Steam’s digital shelves today. This Mean War is a new Early Access cartoony co-op roguelike inspired by games like Overcooked and FTL: Faster Than Light. The game is being developed by indie studio Outlier Games and published by Jagex’ publishing arm, Jagex Partners.

“This Means Warp is set in a dystopian sci-fi future with a cartoon twist, where the mysterious Norg have attacked one of humanity’s outer planets, and shady mega-corporation GloboCorp has vowed revenge on the Norg mothership. When their ship’s entire crew are accidentally sucked out of the airlock, players must make the perilous journey across the galaxy – alone or with up to three friends – engaging in both combat and non-combat encounters.”

Players will go up against increasingly challenging threats as they make their way through the procedurally-generated universe, including hostile ships, asteroid fields, and more. They’ll also be able to purchase new weapon systems and upgrades for their ship to increase their chances of survival as they boldly go where no one has gone before.

The game is expected to stay in early access for up to a year with new game modes, bosses, encounters, ship mechanics, weapons, and ship layouts to be added between now and full release.

This Means Warp is now available on Steam for $19.99. Check out the official gameplay trailer below for a sneak peek at the new roguelike.
