New World Dives Into Its Upcoming Elite Sandwurm Trial As It Hits The Test Server
New World players currently have the opportunity to test their skills against a formidable adversary as the Arena of Shah Neshen, The Devourer Elite Trial makes its way to the public test server. The new 20-player trial features a battle against a colossal sandworm which players can now put through its paces ahead of its release in Season 2: Blood of the Sands. The developers at Amazon Game Studios sat down to talk about the upcoming trial in their latest Forged in Aeternum episode.
According to the game's backstory, the sandwurms are ancient creatures known for their intelligence. They were befriended by a local tribe and served as the primary defense against the Corruption. The goal of this raid is to defeat another sandwurm within an arena, with the hope of taming it as an additional defender against the encroaching Corruption.
Amazon has described this raid as the most ambitious one attempted in the 17th century open world MMORPG thus far. While the encounter features a single boss, the sandwurm poses a significant challenge that demands exceptional coordination from the 20-player team. Success in the battle will rely on players understanding their roles and effectively utilizing the environment to assign buffs, as well as strategically breaking down shields to progress the fight and hopefully take down the massive sandworm for a chance to score some loot.
Season 2: Blood of the Sands officially kicks off on July 6th featuring new story content, the new Sandwurm Devourer heartrune, and the aforementioned new raid, which you can learn more about in the video below.
