Amazon Game Studios talks about the new content and changes coming to New World this month in their latest monthly dev vlog. As previously revealed, the May update will introduce the new 3v3 PvP Arena, a new PvP currency, new Expedition Mutators, and a new episode for the Varangian Knights story arc.

“Continue the story of the the Varangian Knights and their conquest for power. Players will encounter four new Varangian enemies in this episode: the Crusher, Spearman, Hound, and Mage. The Episode 2 starting quest is granted by Abigail Rose, just outside a new Varangian camp at Sorcerers Delve in Everfall.”

The highlight of the update is the new 3v3 PvP Arena featuring fast-paced matches for those times when you just want to get a few quick matches in or during off-peak hours when there are fewer people queueing up for the Arena. You’ll be able to queue up solo, in pairs, or as a full team of three, but keep in mind that queueing up without a full team will match you up with opponents and team members based on the player with the highest level.

The May update will also introduce two new PvP currencies – XP and Azoth Salt. These can be earned by participating in various PvP activities, including the new 3v3 Arena, and can be used to unlock various rewards in the new PvP reward track which will also be added with the update. Additionally, normal consumables will no longer be usable within the Arena and will be replaced by a set of Arena-exclusive consumables that players will automatically receive upon entering the instance.

The dev team also talks about the new Expedition Mutators that will be available in The Depths. According to the them, the new Mutators make the Expedition so difficult that they can’t even reach the final boss. They also announced an XP Extravaganza event coming in June to “keep the party going” even without a major update.

You can watch the full 30-minute dev vlog below to learn more about the above-mentioned content, all of which are new live on the public test realm. There’s also a brief summary of the video available on the New World official site if you’re in a rush.
