Nexon Says That They Will Be Shutting Down MapleStory 2 On May 27th
Nexon has just released an announcement that I would’ve never expected to hear for at least a few more years. According to the studio, they will officially be shutting down MapleStory 2 globally on May 27th, 2019.
“We are forever grateful for your patience and dedication to MapleStory 2 as we tried to rework the game starting with Project New Leaf, but ultimately we’ve decided that we will not be able to provide the type of service that would live up to your expectations. We took a hard look at the current state of the game and its future roadmap, and sadly reached the conclusion that it would be difficult to maintain long-term continuation of the game while remaining true to what made MapleStory 2 your MapleStory 2.”
In preparation for the game's discontinuation of service, the ability to purchase Blue Merets and Meso Tokens has now been disabled. Remaining Blue Merets, however, can still be used. Refunds will also be issued for purchases made through the Nexon Launcher and the official website between December 11, 2019 12am PST and March 18, 2020 8am PDT. Nexon will also be running various in-game and community events starting today.
