No Man’s Sky Rolls Out New ‘Expeditions’ Multiplayer Mode And Mission Updates

In Expeditions, a group of players spawns in a specific area with pre-created characters and random tools. They must then complete exploration milestones to earn rewards, meet other players, and discover new locations along the way. Players can also earn milestone badges that they can show off to the world.

“Each Expedition phase is made up of milestones. These challenges, ranging from the simple to the highly challenging, can be completed in any order. Milestones are open-ended, and each one is a chance to explore a different aspect of No Man’s Sky. Every completed milestone brings a reward to assist you in your journey. Pin a milestone to your mission log to learn more!”

Rendezvous Planets have also been added along the route of Expedition missions to create new social hubs where players can chat with each other, build a settlement, or simply pass through on the way to completing a milestone.

The Expeditions update also revamps the Space Station Mission system to give it more depth and make it more interesting for players. Travelling to mission locations has also been made more immersive with the new Target Sweep mode. Instead of simply following a marker on the screen, players will now have to use their Analysis Visors and scan the landscape to pinpoint the direction and location of mission objectives.

Players can also look forward to new weekend event mission from The Nexus. “Each weekend, Polo and Nada will indicate a specifically-located mission for all Travellers to participate in and earn generous Quicksilver rewards,” explained the devs.

The update also comes with HUD improvements, enhanced visuals for ships, improved pinning, UI adjustments, rebalanced recipe costs, and increased metal yields for terrain resource deposits. Discoveries and Community Missions have also been made a cross-platform feature. The full details can be found on the patch notes on the No Man’s Sky official site.
