OGPlanet Shutting La Tale Down, Service Moving to Papaya Play

OGPlanet announced today that they will be shutting down service for their long running Maplestory-esque 2D side scroller La Tale. Service for the game is officially ending on June 28th, 2017 and the game will be relaunching through Papaya Play, the company that operates Blackshot, Dekaron, and War Rock. Unfortunately Character data will NOT transfer over to the new service.

Unfortunately, your game data will not be moved as part of the transfer service. The transfer service will designate your account as a legacy La Tale account, which will entitle you to special perks and rewards following the relaunch on Papaya Play.

I can only imagine how frustrating it can be for players to lose their characters. Normally when a game changes publishers data is transferred over, but that isn't the case this time.

Despite character data being lost, La Tale is most certainly not dead. The relaunched version of La Tale will include rebalanced character classes, optimizations, and monetization overhaul. The "Call of the Goddess" update is also right around the corner on the new service and will include new legend skills, over 100 new quests, and over 20 new monsters.

After the shut down of La Tale, OGPlanet's only remaining client game will be Uncharted Waters Online. OGPlanet has published over a dozen games over the years but it looks like they've hit a rough patch. I wonder how much longer they'll hold onto the license for Uncharted Waters Online.
