Old School RuneScape Is Heading To Steam On February 24
Old School RuneScape will be joining RuneScape as part of Steam’s ever-growing library of games on February 24th. With the fantasy MMORPG’s release on Valve’s digital game distribution platform, Jagex hopes to bring more players into the RuneScape universe in time for the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
The Steam version of Old School Runescape will offer all the trappings of a Steam game, including a dedicated community hub, weekly announcements, articles, guides, artworks, and achievements, as well as exclusive Steam membership packages.
“What began as a vanilla server for RuneScape has evolved into an eight-year success story and were so excited that it’s expanding to the Steam platform next month,” said Executive Producer Rob Hendry in the official press release. “2021 is set to be a huge year for Old School RuneScape with a jam-packed release schedule, and all content accessible with cross-platform play. We’re confident that both our community and new players alike will find their time in the game an exhilarating one.”
RuneScape launched on Steam in October 2020 and has received mostly positive reviews on the platform so we can probably expect the same showing for Old School RuneScape when it hits the Steam storefront next month.
Meanwhile, Old School Runescape broke its peak player concurrency record when over 157,000 players logged-in simultaneously during the recently-concluded Leagues II: Trailblazer event.
