Sweeping changes are headed for Old School RuneScape as Jagex begins work on its Project Rebalance initiative for the free-to-play fantasy MMORPG. The project’s goal is to expand on the existing skills and gear, taking inspiration from the studio’s annual game jam sessions where moderators are given free reign to test out potential new features and changes to the game.

The studio’s latest dev blog goes over some of the smaller changes planned for Old School RuneScape. That includes skilling adjustments for Agility, Thieving, Slayer, and Mining and updates to skilling activities like the agility course and mining minigame. Players can also look forward to a revamp of the Slayer task list and tweaks to pickpocketing and stealing items from stalls.

“Since this is such a huge project, you can look forward to several blogs on this topic – including all the details about NPC Defence adjustments, gear changes, and more,” says Jagex. “We plan to release further blogs in April to coincide with the hands-on Betas.”

The blog ends with a survey to gauge the community’s thoughts on the upcoming changes. You can check out the full dev blog on the Old School RuneScape official site.
