Onmyoji Gives Players A Way To Summon Characters Using AR

NetEase Games announced earlier this week that it would be introducing a new way to summon characters in Onmyoji today. After maintenance today, players would be given a fourth option for summoning: an AR summoner that uses a different type of spell. The new spell, which translates to "Earthly Spell," can be obtained through "routine tasks" between January 23rd and February 4th. These can then be used to summon characters through an AR summoning array, as shown in the video below.

Players can draw their own summoning array or print one off. According to Chinese media site 17173, you can even use a summoning array that is displayed on a computer screen, but it is noted that the effect is not quite as nice. Once summoned, you can rotate the character model on screen by rotating the summoning array in real life.

This is a small feature overall, but it's a rather neat one. Being able to see the characters come to life in the world around you is always a nice touch and helps to give you the feeling that you actually are summoning these characters.

It should be noted that, while the announcement said that the feature should be available after maintenance today, I am not yet seeing the option to summon via AR in my Onmyoji client quite yet. I will update this post when the feature becomes available to me.
