Organizers Say E3 2021 Will Be A Three-Day Fully-Digital Event

e3 2020 bannerAfter being cancelled last year at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, will be coming back this summer in a fully-digital format. The Electronic Software Association has just announced the official dates along with their plans for the online event.

According to VGC, the ESA has proposed three-days of live stream coverage from June 15-17 featuring multiple key note sessions, and an awards show along with streams from publishers, gaming influencers, and media partners. The organizers are also planning a preview night on June 14.

The event itself will also be supplemented with media previews the week before as well as demos from participating developers and publishers through various consumer platforms. The ESA says that they will also allow participating companies to remotely stream their demos to audiences with one-to-one interaction and assistance from the developers themselves.

ESA’s plans for the event aren’t set in stone just yet and still need the approval of members of the association, which include the biggest companies in the video game industry. The association promises to share more details soon.

“We can confirm that we are transforming the E3 experience for 2021 and will soon share exact details on how we’re bringing the global video game community together,” an ESA spokesperson told VGS. “We are having great conversations with publishers, developers and companies across the board, and we look forward to sharing details about their involvement soon.”
