Outriders Release Date Pushed Back To April, Free Demo Coming Out In February

outriders shockwave bannerOutriders developer People Can Fly and publisher Square Enix have just announced that they will once again be pushing back the upcoming third-person shooter’s launch. In a post on Twitter earlier today, the team says that they have moved the game’s release date to April 1, 2021 to give them more time to fine tune the game and deliver “a fantastic play experience at launch.”

Those eagerly awaiting the game’s release in February, however, will be happy to know that the team will be releasing a demo in its stead.

“[. . .] We’re excited to announce that on February 25th, 2021 we will be publishing a free demo, giving everyone the chance to play the first few hours of the game with all four classes – in both single player and co-op – along with seamless migration of your character and progress to the full game.”

The team says that the reason they decided to publish a demo is to give players a chance to experience the game before release so they can decide for themselves whether they actually want to pre-order or purchase the game.

Outriders was first announced back in E3 2019 and was initially scheduled to launch in Summer 2020 but was pushed back to the end of the year before being delayed again until February 2, 2021. The game will be launching on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S next-gen consoles.
