Palworld will finally be taking the next step in its development as the critter-collecting multiplayer survival sandbox enters early access to January 19. Developer Pocket Pair initially planned to release the game in 2022, but quietly pushed it back with no ETA until today.

According to the Early Access FAQ, the game will launch with a $29.99 price tag on Steam, promising a colorful world where players will be able to tame adorable creatures called Pals that can be used both in combat and to perform various tasks. The game will also be playable with an Xbox or PC Game Pass subscription but without cross-play support for the time being. There are currently no plans for a PlayStation launch, although the studio is open to the possibility sometime in the future.

Palworld will feature both single-player and offline modes but will mainly be a co-op PvE game with optional PvP. Up to four players will be able to join one of the Pocket Pair-hosted server through private invites, or they can opt to host dedicated servers that can accommodate up to 32 players at a time. Those who want to transfer their single-player progress to online multiplayer can only do so if they’ll be hosting the server themselves.

The early access launch announcement comes with a new trailer that can honestly benefit from new background music, but otherwise does the job it’s supposed to. You’ll find that tucked snugly down below.
