Pearl Abyss, the South Korean gaming company that owns and operates Black Desert Online and Eve Online, reported their Q2 2021 earnings report today. The financial highlights are as follows:

Total revenue for the quarter was 87.4 Billion Korean Won (KRW), or approx. $75M USD.

The Black Desert franchise (Black Desert PC and Black Desert Mobile) made approx. $60M USD while the Eve Online franchise (Eve Online PC and Eve Echoes mobile) made approx. $15M USD.

Over the last year PC games has gained market share going from 44% of total revenues to 65% at the end of Q2 2021. This is largely due to the declining popularity of Black Desert Mobile. Eve Online remained relatively stable while the PC version of Black Desert continued to perform well. North America and Europe continued to out perform making up 57% of company-wide revenues. Pearl Abyss quickly discovered that while mobile games can bring is huge revenues, they are often more fickle than PC games.

Revenues are expected to improve in future quarters with Black Desert Mobile and Eve Echoes launching in China. Details about a new game will also be released at Gamescom on August 25, 2021.
