KingsIsle Entertainment’s new Pirate101 mobile game, Pirate101: Plunder Hunt, has soft-launched on Google Play and the App Store. Plunder Hunt is set in the same Spiral universe and uses the same assets as the PC MMORPG but is an entirely different game with its own unique adventures and mechanics tailored for solo play with no multiplayer features, so this is probably the first and last time that we’ll be featuring it here.

The game is still in its early alpha stage and is a collaborative effort between KingsIsle and an internal Gamigo team, marking the former’s first internal game partnership. The soft launch is primarily aimed at gauging the gaming community’s interest in a Pirate101 mobile game and gathering initial game metrics.

Players who participate in the early alpha test will be rewarded with exclusive in-game items, including a Batacuda mount that can be earned by progressing through the game or purchased for $1.99 from the cash shop. Feedback on the alpha build can be submitted through Discord or by leaving a review in the respective app stores.

For those worried about how the new mobile game will affect the original game, KingsIsle says that they remain committed to an aggressive 2024 content release schedule for the pirate MMORPG.
