Pixelmage Games Cancel Hero's Song Kickstarter

Following less-than-adequate results that brought their campaign to only $136,849, John Smedley's new company Pixelmage Games has decided to cancel the Kickstarter campaign for their in-development title Hero's Song. The game had a promising feature set, great art, a clearly laid out development schedule, and industry veterans, but its $800,000 funding goal remained well out of grasp.

From here on out, their existing investors will continue funding the project. The game is still planned to be developed on the exact same schedule. Development streams will be held and Smedley promises to be "completely transparent" about the game's development process.

The team chalks the underwhelming results up to a lack of physical rewards and the game being shown too early. He states that the team has "learned a lot" from the Kickstarter campaign and appreciates the continued support from the Kickstarter community.

Be sure to keep an eye out for more news regarding the game as the year goes on. It will be interesting to see if they can stick to their rigid development plan.
