Will Amazon's Necromancers Resurrect Hero's Song?

We know John Smedley has joined Amazon Game Studios, but we only just realized that nearly all of Pixelmage Games has joined with him. The hawk eyed investigators at MassivelyOP used a newly minted photograph of Smedley and crew at Amazon and compared it with the profile pictures of former Pixelmage employees. And there's a match. Interesting.

So, of course, this leads to some obvious speculation. Will Smedley and team continue to build their vision for Hero's Song as part of Amazon, using the Lumberyard Game engine? It seems like a given: If you've got the same people working together why take them on a radically new direction?

The press release from the "Smedley Joins Amazon" announcement read

His team is already hard at work on an ambitious new project that taps into the power of the AWS Cloud and Twitch to connect players around the globe in a thrilling new game world.

Maybe it's not the same exact game as Hero's Song, but is continuing its spirit: same vision with a different polish. We can only speculate but time reveals all.
