Pokémon Go Is The Number One Profitable iPhone Game, Again

Pokémon Go's Johto update, that added 80 new pocket monster to catch, has secured Niantic the number one most profitable game for iPhone spot, again, according to GamesBeat. Looks like the update is making the cash flow. Even though there are a number of iPhone users reporting that the latest update is crashing their game.

“Pokémon Go hadn’t been No. 1 in the U.S. since January 4 at the end of the New Year’s event,” Sensor Tower head of mobile insights Randy Nelson told GamesBeat. “It only got as high as No. 8 during the Valentine’s event.”

It's interesting to remember that SuperData reports that "The U.S. is the only country with more players on iOS than Android."

Pokémon Go is not doing as well on Adnroid, though it's ranking has improved. And it can't seem to compete in Japan, where more people are willing to spend money on mobile games than any other country in the world, thanks to competition from Fire Emblem: Heroes.

But don't discount Pokémon Go just yet. Frequent updates and some additional features could generate another surge in interest for both mobile platforms. Not that Pokémon Go is struggling at all. I can't wait to see where it stands on its one year anniversary.
