MOBA shooter Predecessor has officially launched into open beta on PC and consoles, hoping to fill the void that Paragon left behind when it shut down in 2018. The game uses the same assets as the now-defunct title, which Epic Games graciously made available as part of Unreal Engine 5’s developer toolkit.

Players can choose from over 30 playable heroes, each with their own distinct abilities and playstyles that fit one of the five traditional MOBA roles. Gameplay is exactly the same as your typical MOBA except that you’ll be playing in third-person on a fully 3D map.

“Predecessor redefines the modern MOBA experience, combining unique characters and abilities with breathtaking third-person graphics and verticality,” says developer Omeda Studios. “Best of all, it's completely free to play! Jump into the action now and see why more than 450,000 players love Predecessor.”

Predecessor is now free-to-play on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and for the first time ever, on Xbox Series X|S with cross-play support between all platforms.
