Project Genom's New Progression And Equipment Systems Are Now Live

Late last month Project Genom's new progression system was unveiled. The system features twelve "paths of development," each of which contains six skills. A set of nodes is available for each path of development, allowing players to unlock various "character features." The game's organ system was also introduced, allowing players to either mutate or replace organs on a per-organ basis to unlock new skills.

This progression system is now live, as well as changes made to the equipment system. Instead of using a "list-like inventory," Project Genom now has a slot-based inventory with the ability to drag and drop items. Items are split into several categories and each category has its own limited number of slots. Players can increase the amount of inventory slots in each category by putting points into a locked slot. Each category has its own type of points, eg. weapon points open weapon slots.

Soon, items will have energy output and capacity requirements. Some items will require players to have certain human, synthetic, or mutant organs. Each of the game's current locations will increase in size—most notably, the main base will receive several "new chambers and units." Characters will receive new controls and a new animation for when they get hit. "New transport" will be introduced. Quests will be diversified through several new mechanics, including "transport, survival skills, [and] time quests." Some quests will even have branching storylines depending on player choice.

The press release ends on a bit of a different note: "Dear passengers, we are leaving for another planet in a few months. Please prepare your weapons and armor." A representative from Neuronhaze has said that this is a hint for "a very big event" that the team is planning, but that no other details can be shared at this time. While we wait for more details, you can check the official website for more information.
