Riot Games Kicks Off A 10-Week Event In All League Of Legend Games Tomorrow
Riot Games is running a 10-week event in all three of its League of Legends games featuring skins and other in-game goodies based on the IP’s Star Guardian parallel universe. The Star Guardians are a group of high school girls tasked with protecting the universe from cosmic threats and enemies. The event kicks off tomorrow, July 14th in the original PC game, League of Legends Wild Rift on mobile, and the Legends of Runeterra collectible card game.
“From Sailor Moon to Puella Magi Madoka Magica, the Magical Girl or mahō shōjo genre has been a staple for anime fans for decades. As heroes navigate schoolyard relationships by day and superhero duties by night, the Magical Girl genre empowers young women, shows the importance of good friends, celebrates authentic representations of one’s self, and, of course, features plenty of awe-inspiring world-saving action.”
In League of Legends, the event’s launch will mark the arrival of a new Champion, Nilah the Joybound, one of the senior members of the cosmic superhero team, along with a new narrative event and 12 new Star Guardian skins.
“Nilah amplifies the healing and shielding abilities of nearby allies. Allies that heal or shield Nilah gain a bonus heal or shield for themselves. And when an allied champion heals or shields themselves near Nilah, she gives herself a bonus heal or shield.”
In the mobile spinoff, players can also expect a Star Guardian narrative of their own as well as access to new skins and a new event pass, while those on Legends of Runeterra will be treated to a themed Legendary Board, new skins, and new guardians.
Riot will also be releasing a copyright-free music album, titled Sessions: Star Guardian Taliyah, that content creators can use in their livestreams and videos.
But wait, there’s more! The studio will also be raising money for charity throughout the event. 20% of all proceeds from the Event Pass will be donated to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund, as well as 100% of all Star Guardian Taliyah bundle sales from July 28th to August 29th. In addition, a dollar will also be donated to the fund for every 10 Chaos Monsters killed from July 14th to August 11th.
