Roblox Raises Funding At Up To $2.4 Billion Valuation, Nears Minecraft's Sale Price

PitchBook, a financial data company, reports that Roblox is in the process of raising up to $150 million at a $2.4 billion valuation that rivals Minecraft's price tag.

Microsoft purchased the studio behind Minecraft back in 2014 for $2.5 billion.

Roblox is a free to play game that empowers players to create their own worlds and mini-games. The sandbox and user generated nature of the game has helped keep the userbase growing steadily since launch. Roblox now boasts 60 million monthly active users across all platforms.

The company has stated tha they are profitable and cash-flow positive. While there's some speculation that the company plans to go public, we think its far more likely Roblox will be bought out by a larger firm, perhaps Tencent.
