Rocket League Rumble Mode Releases Today

Rocket League's latest zany gameplay mode, Rumble Mode, will be available as a free update today. The new mode combines Rocket League's classic gameplay with ridiculous items to thwart other players and gain an advantage, such as The Boot: allows players to kick another player out of the sky with a fisherman's boot attached to a wire. You can see The Boot in action in the trailer below.
The full power-up list is as follows:
● The Boot (Kicks an opponent's car)
● Disruptor (Forces the opponent to drive uncontrollably)
● Freezer (Freezes the ball in-place)
● Grappling Hook (Pulls you toward the ball)
● Haymaker (Punches the ball)
● Magnetizer (Attracts the ball to your car)
● Plunger (Snaps the ball to your position)
● Power Hitter (Hit everything harder)
● Spike (Attach the ball to your car when you bump into it)
● Swapper (Change positions on the field with your opponent)
● Tornado (Sweep up the ball and cars into a giant funnel cloud)
Rocket League is also introducing loot crates as a means of funding eSports events and prize pools. In SuperData's latest report, the firm highlighted Valve as being the only company that realized selling in-game items and rewards is a solid means of funding tournaments. Now Psyonix is on board as well.
Random crates will drop during competitive matches, and players can purchase keys for $1.49 each or in buy bundles of 5, 10, or 20, keys at a cost of one dollar per key. 'These random, but exclusive Crate items can then be kept or traded with other players (another new feature in the update!) and include everything from “Import” Battle-Cars and unique animated Decals, to Exotic Wheels and other cool Garage accessories.'
And the update includes the beta release of both the Mac version of the game and SteamOS version.
