Rocket League Is Going Free-To-Play On The Epic Games Store This Summer

Rocket League, Psyonix and Panic Button Games’ multiplayer vehicular soccer (or football) game, will be going free-to-play on the Epic Games Store this summer. The game will no longer be available for download on Steam once the game goes free-to-play. Those who already bought the game on Steam, however, will still be able to play through the platform.

Players who already own the game will also be awarded “Legacy” status which includes access to all DLCs, a unique title, a Huntress player banner, Dieci-Oro wheels, over 200+ common items upgraded to Legacy quality, and a Golden Cosmos Boost cosmetic. In addition, players who played the game prior to July 21st will also get an additional Faded Cosmos Boost.

The developers will also be rolling out their biggest update to date to coincide with the game’s F2P transition. The update will introduce major changes to Tournaments and Challenges along with cross-platform support for Competitive Rank matches, player inventories, and Rocket Pass progress. Cross-platform support can be enabled by linking their existing accounts to an Epic Games account.

Psyonix has yet to announce a date for the transition but have promised to release more information over the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can check out the new F2P page and FAQ on the Rocket League official site. You'll also find the latest Rocket Pass trailer below.
