RuneScape Celebrates 20th Anniversary With Year-Long Events & Commemorative Rewards
Runescape has just turned 20 years old and Jagex is celebrating the momentous milestone with year-long anniversary-themed events on both Runescape and Old School Runescape. During the event, players will have the chance to grab a variety of in-game and real-life commemorative items.
“It's hard to believe, but this little game of ours is 20 years old, and we're throwing a massive birthday party to celebrate!
We're not just celebrating our game - we're celebrating all of you. Without our wonderful 'Scapers, there'd be no RuneScape at all. Your passion, dedication, and community spirit are what have held us together all these years - so give yourselves a round of applause and have a big ol' slice of birthday cake on us.”
The 20th anniversary celebrations kicked off in Runescape yesterday with the month-long Grand Party featuring the return of iconic NPCs along with various buffs and rewards. Head over to the Lumbridge Crater to join the festivities and make sure to talk to the Wise Old Man to claim the exclusive 20th Anniversary Outfit and Cape. A four-part Anniversary Quest series will also go live on January 25th and will run throughout the entire year.
In Old School Runescape, celebrations are set to begin tomorrow, January 6th with the Green Gnome Child event. As part of the event, players will get to explore iconic Runescape locations and fight demons and dragons to earn a 20th Anniversary Cloak and a Gnome Child dedication for player-owned home chapels.
20th Anniversary swag are also available for purchase on the official mech store including pins, keyrings, collectible mini runestones, a golden vinyl pressing of the game’s original soundtrack album, and an illustrated hardcover history companion book.
