Runescape Commemorates 10th Anniversary of 6/6/6 Massacre

On 6/6/06, and on an ominous date no less, the otherwise peaceful world of Runescape was beset by a malicious glitch that allowed players to retain their ability to attack other players outside of designated PvP zones. This resulted in an hour-long mass-PK event that resulted in the permanent loss of items and gold and which came to be known as the Falador Massacre.

Ten years later, Jagex makes light of the infamous slaughterfest with a special event on Worlds 111 and 666. Players who were brave enough to join these servers were treated to a house party, much like the events that preceded the massacre. They were then teleported to Falador where random players were possessed by the ghost of Durial321, the instigator of the mass-murder, and gained the ability to attack other players. The special reenactment culminated with the appearance of a gigantic level 321 “boss” version of Durial321 with 1 million HP. Fortunately, unlike the events of that fateful day, any deaths, whether player-caused or by Durial321 himself, were completely safe.
