Sky: Children of the Light, a small-scale multiplayer game from thatgamecompany, is looking to level up to a full-blown MMO alongside its PC launch and will be attempting to break the world record for the most concurrent players at Gamescom 2023 on August 25th.

The studio has yet to provide details on the event but they’ve sent out a press release inviting attendees and players the world over to “come together via proprietary technology and break online game boundaries.” The studio also promises to reveal information on an upcoming virtual playtest soon.

Meanwhile, Sky: Children of the Light has kicked off its fourth anniversary celebrations with a dance party and various cosmetic rewards. The game also recently rolled out its Season of Moments update featuring a new location, new spirits, new shoe cosmetics, and new camera features.

Additionally, the Sky: Children of the Light Steam page is now live alongside a Wishlist Extravaganza event that offers in-game rewards for reaching certain wishlist milestones.
