SMITE Gets A New God And A Magic: The Gathering Crossover Event For Its 10th Birthday
SMITE is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month and is giving away a free Unlimited Skin Chest to players who play at least 10 games until January 26th. Hi-Rez Studios also held the third-person MOBA’s 9th World Championship event this past weekend where the studio revealed a whole host of new content coming to the game when Season 10 begins on January 24th.
Season 10, dubbed Season of Monsters, will mark the arrival of a new deity in the form of The Fire Giant, Surtr. For 10 years, Surtr has been the strongest jungle monster in Conquest Mode and the primary neutral objective of the game mode. Now, he’s hell bent on revenge and will ready to rain down fire on his enemies.
In light of Surtr’s promotion from jungle monster to fire-spewing god, Hi-Rez will also be making significant changes to the Conquest map in Season 10. Players can also look forward to new season and battle passes as well as new gameplay additions such as Shard Relics that grant early game active skills, class-specific bonus stats, and several new items.
The cherry on top of an already tall Season 10 cake is a Magic: The Gathering crossover event which will feature exclusive cosmetics that will transform several gods and goddesses into iconic Planeswalkers from the collectible card game universe. The crossover event will run for a few months with more skins expected to arrive in SMITE’s second major update of the year.
