SMITE has just kicked off its 9th Season with the addition of a new game mode called Slash, the first game mode added to the third-person MOBA in years. The newly-added game mode was first announced during Hi-Rez Studios’ annual showcase held earlier this month.

“Slash takes elements from both the Siege and Clash modes and merges them together into an entirely new mode! The map features traditional tower, phoenix, and Titan objectives and a jungle sized in between those of Siege and Clash. The open center area and 5v5 team sizes from Clash ensure frequent fighting and rotations, and new Juggernaut camps that can be cleared to Spawn your own Juggernaut that push lanes and be teleported too like Siege.”

With Slash officially live, the Siege and Clash game modes have now been removed from the normal queues list but will still remain as options for custom matches.

In addition to the new game mode, Season 9 also brings significant changes to relic items and the Conquest map which has been reworked with a new Hindu-inspired design as a testament to the new god Shiva.

“Shiva’s presence has changed the environment to evoke elements of the Hindu pantheon. Tiamat’s castle is now overgrown as her rule subsides.

As a brand-new gameplay feature, an Obelisk can be filled with special offerings from Jungle Camps. The Obelisk grants a unique and powerful reward: Indra’s Scepter. Functioning as an indestructible mobile team tool, Indra’s Scepter either attacks nearby enemies or heals allies and structures.

Also new, a Naga monster awaits deep in the Jungle, dropping additional offerings for the Obelisk.”
