The 2016 Smite World Championship begins today, which means it's time for a keynote speech with major reveals. The announcements were made ahead of the keynote speech. Hi-Rez's COO Todd Harris will be covering them in more depth at 11 AM EST today on the official Smite Twitch channel.

Today's announcements bring two major pieces of information for Smite. The Japanese Pantheon is finally coming to Smite. The first character to be introduced from the Japanese Pantheon will be Amaterasu, Goddess of the Sun. She will arrive on January 12th for PC users and late February for Xbox One users. Amaterasu's release will mark the beginning of a "multi-week event" called Rising Dawn. During this event, players will have the chance to get Japanese-inspired skins, "such as Kaiju Sobek and Harajuku Neith." Due to popular request, Smite will also be receiving a 3v3 Joust League. A new 3v3 Joust map inspired by the sky palace in the Sun Wukong legend will also be added.

Hi-Rez have also revealed the next Paladins Champion. Grover, Sylvanus' Treant from Smite, will be making his way to Paladins as a playable Champion. No release date for Grover has been set, but you can see what he looks like in Paladins in the picture above.

Jetpack Fighter was recently launched as Hi-Rez's first mobile game. The game is "a swipe-to-attack, high-speed platformer with gear progression." You will be able to obtain a Leona skin for Nemesis in Smite. Nemesis will also be playable in Jetpack Fighter.
