Wil Wheaton Will Voice Wesley Crusher In Star Trek Online’s New Ascension Expansion
Wesley Crusher will be making an appearance in the next Star Trek Online expansion with Wil Wheaton himself reprising his role as Star Trek: The Next Generation’s exceptionally gifted Starfleet officer. The expansion, dubbed Ascension, will continue the Mirror Universe narrative where Crusher’s evil counterpart will be revealed as the emperor of the Terran Empire.
“Things have escalated in the Mirror Universe, as the Terran emperor is attempting to control The Other, the Mirror version of V’ger – a dangerous entity of tremendous power. Up until this point, the identity of the leader behind the Terran Empire’s strategic incursions into the Prime Universe has remained a secret,” says developer Cryptic Studios.
“However, players team up with former enemy-turned-ally, Admiral Leeta (voiced by Chase Masterson from Deep Space Nine) and learn that the Emperor is none other than the Mirror version of Wesley Crusher from The Next Generation (voiced by Wil Wheaton). In order to stop the Terran Emperor from threatening both the Prime and Mirror Universes, the Federation will need to stop him from controlling The Other, all while fighting off his forces led by the dreaded Captain Killy (voiced by Mary Wiseman from Discovery),” the studio added.
Ascension is set to launch on PC on September 13th with a console release planned for after. The expansion will introduce a new featured episode titled Eye of the Storm, a new five-player ground-based Task Force Operation called Storm Chasers, and the Elite Bridge Officer training system that will allow players to upgrade their bridge officers. The expansion will also kick off the Emperor’s Will event with a Tier 6 Terran Somerville scout ship up for grabs.
