Star Wars: The Old Republic Launches on Steam

EA's Star Wars: The Old Republic officially launched on Steam today for the first time. The game originally launched back in 2011 and up until now was only available on its own launcher. Distribution through Steam should expand the game's reach and bring in more players. The launch so far seems to be a huge success as the game hit a little over 25,000 concurrent users on the platform on launch day. Many of these users are likely existing players who ditched the game's own launcher for Steam as players can access their old accounts on Steam.

Star Wars: The Old Republic while free to play is more of a free demo than anything else as free users are severely limited in-game and need to subscribe to gain access to additional hotbars and content. Still, the free to play experience is an excellent way to get a good look at the game and experience the entire game's story.
