Voxel/Vertex Space Sandbox Game Starbase Heading To Early Access In Late 2019

starbase robots buildingIf you're feeling the need to boldly go (and build) where no man has gone before, then Frozenbyte Games’ new voxel/vertex sci-fi sandbox game Starbase might just be your next go-to game. The Finnish studio has just announced that the game will be heading into Steam Early Access towards the end of the year.

The game features a fully-destructible sandbox world where players get to design and build their own spaceships and space stations. The game’s open-world simulation-style gameplay allows players to play the game however they like, whether it’s exploring uncharted regions of the galaxy, mining asteroids, trading precious resources and cargo for profit, or building impregnable space fortresses. Players can also join factions and battle members of the opposing faction for territory, resources, and universal domination.

“Set in a universe of vast scale and detail, the fully-destructible environment and hybrid voxel/vertex-based game mechanics enable simulations in the game at immense depth; minor collisions may break a few outer plates from your spaceship, while fast-speed crashes can rip the ship apart. Thruster propellant pipe leaks may cause spaceships to stall, but the corrosive, leaking propellant might also melt the superstructure of the ship and cause a catastrophic failure. Damaged ship controls in a spaceship do not necessarily mean the journey is over, as manual values for the flight can be applied directly to the generator and thrusters from the engine room.”
